CLINICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE PROGRAM INFORMATION |
| |
Accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS*),
the University of Cincinnati Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science distance learning program is designed for
working clinical laboratory technicians and medical laboratory technicians who hold their AS degree from a NAACLS* accredited
CLT/MLT program or equivalent coursework and CLT/MLT certification.
As a student in this program, each quarter you will be assigned to a small cohort of students led by a clinical laboratory science
course director and facilitator. This learning community will interact with you through online communication tools such as message boards,
chat sessions, and e-mail. All course content will be delivered directly to you via the course web site or materials
sent to your home, such as multimedia lectures and demonstrations. Clinical experiences can typically be completed in your local
community. |

The program is designed around the lifestyle of busy working professional students. Students
will complete 10 credits per quarter and can graduate in just over 2 years. Graduates will be eligible, and well prepared
for, the national certification examinations including: |

- The Board of Registry (BOR) exam sponsored by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) for the MT (ASCP)
credential
- The National Credentialing Agency (NCA) exam sponsored by the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science
(ASCLS) for the CLS (NCA) credential

- Students must successfully complete all didactic courses in Quarters 1-7 and be in good academic standing before registering for Professional Quarters I and II.
- Students must successfully complete all other courses before registering for the Clinical Laboratory Capstone and Seminar courses.
- Students must submit the required Clinical Practice materials and Medical History packet by the published deadline in order to matriculate through the curriculum.
- Students must complete the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens, OSHA Hazardous Communications, and HIPAA Privacy Introduction annual training sessions in order to matriculate through the curriculum. These courses are offered online at UC at no charge to the student.
